Swagatam or Suswagatam [sva-gat-um]

स्वागतम् <–In Hindi

Origin: Sanskrit: Welcome

A universal word for welcome in all the Indian languages. Often accompanied by the gesture of joining hands together vertically in front of the bosom as in Namaste.

    in Bengali it is also said ‘Swagatam’ . To my knowledge, Hindi and Bengali in many ways are alike.. as both the languages r descended from Sanskrit.
